New Class Announcement

Student using Manual Lathe C008 - Intro General Machine Shop Practices

Custom Group Center for Manufacturing Technology is currently enrolling for their next session of C008-Intro General Machine Shop Practices starting on March 26, 2012 and running Monday through Thursday from 9am to 2:30pm.
This 16 week, 320 hour course will introduce the Students to the complex and rewarding field of precision machining.
The course consists of interactive lessons and practical hands on labs where the students will gain valuable experience creating hand tools or locating devices. The program’s fields of study include:
            Math Fundamentals Grinding Processes
            Basics of Manual Mill Mechanics of CNC
            Basics of Engine Lathe Basics of CNC Machining
            Blueprint Reading Basics of CNC Turning
            Basics of Tolerance Much, much more
            Structure of Metals

Outcome:
Custom Group Center for Manufacturing Technology has established measureable goals and offers industry recognized credentials for consistent attendance, acceptable test and lab scores, and additional scholastic accomplishments.

Prerequisites:
Students in both courses must be at least eighteen years of age, must possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, and must have some understanding of math and basic algebra. The student should hold a strong mechanical aptitude, have good problem-solving abilities, and be able to work independently. Experience working with machinery is also helpful.

Center for Manufacturing Technology adds new Instructors

Intro General Machine Shop Practices 


Center for Manufacturing Technology has recently added four new Instructors to our staff. We'd like to take this opportunity to introduce our new Instructors.

Robert Deangelis
         Machine Shop Instructor:
         Robert has over 30 years of Machining experience, with extensive knowledge in Tool Making and Blue Print Reading.

Donald Nelsen
         Math Instructor:
         Donald possess a PhD in Electrical Engineering from MIT. Donald also held an Associate Professor position for ten years, teaching the main electrical engineering device and circuits course to graduate and undergraduate students.

Sangeng Oum
         Math/Machine Instructor:
         Sangeng holds teaching certifications from The Commonwealth of Massachusetts in both Machine Shop (T31), Mathematics (5-12) and taught Mechanical Engineering Technology and Solidworks. Sangeng has held teaching positions in the Massachusetts school system for over 20 years.

Robert Shapiro
         Math Instructor:
         Robert holds teaching certifications to teach Middle & High School Math and Middle School Science. Robert has held teaching positions in the Massachusetts school system for over 10 years.

Patrick McAtamney
         Machine Shop Instructor:
         Patrick has over 30 years of Machining experience, with extensive knowledge in Tool Making and Blue Print Reading. Patrick is certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Machine Shop Instructor. Patrick has held the position of Technical Instructor at MIT for the past 10 years.
